Welcome to 1776: The World Turned Upside Down, a month-by-month, immersive account of a turbulent period in American history during the American Revolution. The year when congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, the year we celebrate as the official beginning of our nationhood, this is the story of some of our nation’s most revered heroes before history made them legends—failed corset-makers, farmers, and high school dropouts, all rising to the challenge of an American Revolution.
Through informal and playful storytelling about the historical events in each month, the series explores the roots of America’s successes and its many struggles. Regional disputes and differences are highlighted as America pushes forward in its revolution. Through the eyes of colonists and militiamen we see the institutional inequality and oppression, the tension between cultural heritage versus assimilation, and the struggle between states’ rights and the federal government.
Available as an ebook and audiobook bundle from Serial Box, with audio narration from Robin Miles, and a variety of guest voices including Hamilton star Chris Jackson as George Washington. Listen to an excerpt hereunder.

Serial Box brings everything that’s awesome about TV (easily digestible episodes, team written, new content every week) to what was already cool about books (well-crafted stories, talented authors, enjoyable anywhere).
Like TV, we release a new episode of our serials every week and serials typically run for seasons of 10-16 weeks. Easy to pick up, episodes are enjoyable on their own but build over the course of the season to tell a bigger story. Each episode is available in ebook and audio and takes about 30 minutes to enjoy.
